Sunday Worship Thoughts

It’s Sunday morning and it’s time to go to church. Yes, there are plenty of other options this morning. The lake, golf course, your favorite breakfast joint, or just rolling over for another hour of sleep.

I’ve preached a handful of funerals and officiated a handful of weddings in the past couple of months. Not one of them spoke of golf courses, lakeside Sunday’s , or slow mornings with a bit more coffee. They all spoke of life as a matter of faith. Especially the funerals. Not one family member thought of boats or lake houses. They all spoke of where their loved ones were and how their faith mattered so much in times of trial and heartache. I heard people say – repeatedly, “I don’t know how people go through this without their faith, or their church.”

This morning, pick a church that’s doing something that matters. A church that loves you and accepts you – just as you are. A church that’s alive with grace and filled with meaningful, purposeful relationships.

A church that introduces you to the Divine and His love for you. A church that has no political agenda, but rather a heart to serve it’s community.

Attend that church today. Let one hour of your hectic week settle and refresh your soul.

If the church you attend doesn’t do that, go to the  next one. They are out there. And they are worth the search.

I Love Our church, but then I’m biased. If you aren’t celebrated, you are tolerated. You’re in the right place when the Divine can refresh your soul and direct your life with a peace that cannot be explained.
