Ever been around someone that needs to be at war, all the time? I’m talking about that person in your life that just exhausts you with endless problems, unnecessary battles and never ending drama! Who popped into your mind? That’s right – that person! Me too!
A really good friend once told me that “remaining in that person’s path will drain you of your energy, but will also drain you from your potential.” My friend, which now lives in Virginia, likened that ongoing tension to a “dog nipping at your heals as you pedal a bicycle up a steep hill.” He went on to paint that analogy firmly in my mind as he said, “and you can’t stop to kick the dog away every time he needs attention…you’ve got to pedal.” That friend’s name is Randy Singer. He’s that guy in my life that has made me a better man and a better learner. Randy is the consumate encourager and perhaps the brightest person I’ve ever known.
So, back to my point. When you are being barked at, nipped and bitten, as you attempt to pedal up your hill, listen to the wisdom of Randy Singer. “Don’t stop pedaling, or you’ll never get up your hill.” Stay the course and stay on the beam. The beam is a term from airplane pilots. It refers to a flight plan. A path set specifically for you.
Listen to this, friends. If God is FOR YOU. If God’s plans for you were indeed formed before you were formed in your mother’s womb. If His plans are for you to prosper. If He alone is your source of strength, provision and peace…STAY HIS COURSE! You have been created, empowered, strengthened, equipped and forgiven by God Himself.
Let no person become the thief of your calling. Let no human rob you of your peace. Set aside the weight of mediocrity and relationships that are setting you up for less than God has in store for you.
Go ahead and DREAM BIG, PRAY BIG and SERVE BIG for He is your strength and your life. He will make your crooked path straight and He alone will determine what is the best you that you can be. Stay on the beam of His plans, dreams and passions for you, and you’ll see the yapping dogs in your life give up on the biting, nipping, yapping clammer as you pedal with all your might.
And then, look back as you summit your climb and celebrate, for the Lord is good and faithful. You are always loved, because He is always good. Let no human rob that from you!
