Evil in Charlottesville

I do not know all of the details surrounding the evil and sin-filled actions that led to the clash in Virginia, but I do know this: When any human determines that they are supremely capable of determining that someone else is an inferior creation, stupid is just around the corner.

I offer that thought with the understanding that this world doesn’t need my thoughts on this issue, but rather is need of folks just like me to step up and do something about it! I cannot bring change to Charlottesville if I am not willing to bring change in my own home, community, church or office.

I was invited some months ago to be a part of a determined group of people wanting to be part of the solution, rather than just creating more noise about opinions.  I was excited, but frankly, I went back to my hectic life and let the opportunity to be part of the solution be washed away in the crazy pace and urgency in my life.

I thought, as I saw the hate and venom being spewed on the streets of Charlottesville that I am part of the problem. I know, I live in Georgia, not Virginia…But that clash could have easily taken place in Metro Atlanta.

I do not wish to write about something that I am unwilling to physically engage in. Specifically, I am embarrassed that I allowed my calendar to be filled with important appointments but with no room to roll up my sleeves and go to work and make a difference.

Will you join me in committing your life to solving this wicked curse of racial tension in our nation, by engaging your resources and relationships to provide tangible solutions and less rhetoric?

I’ll share more as I evaluate my priorities and jump back into the opportunity to make a real difference.
