If you’ve been hanging out with me on this site over the past year, you know that I am a passionate seeker of better! Especially when it comes to small habits that can become life-altering routines in your life.
Here are 4 BIGGIES that I’m attempting to conquer over the next 3 months:
- Consume 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. Protein-rich foods keep you full longer than other foods because they take longer to leave the stomach. Also, protein keeps blood-sugar levels steady, which prevents spikes in hunger. Eating protein first decreases your white carbohydrate cravings. These are the types of carbs that get you fat. Think bagels, toast, and donuts. YIKES!!
- Have no more than three items on your to-do list each day. When you shift your life from day-to-day reactivity and busyness to one of creation and purpose, your goals become a lot bigger. Consequently, your priority list becomes smaller. Instead of doing a million things minimally, the goal becomes to do a few things incredibly – or better yet, to do one thing better than anyone else in the world. “If you have more than three priorities, then you don’t have any.” -- Jim Collins
- Stop consuming refined sugar. What we know about sugar is that if you stop consuming sugar, your brain will radically change. Study after study is showing that refined sugar is worse for our brains than it is for our waistlines. According to Dr. William Coda Martin, refined sugar is nothing more than poison because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins, and minerals. Refined sugar has now been shown to make us cranky, make us make rash decisions, and make us stupid.
- Fast from the internet 24 hours once per week. If you haven’t caught on already, human beings are highly addictive creatures. We love our coffee, sugar, and internet. And these things are all great. But our lives can be far more enhanced by using these tools with wisdom. The purpose of the internet fast is to reconnect to yourself and your loved ones. I think I’ll be blown away by how much more connected I feel with my closest circle and family.
I will let you know how these four game-changers work for me, and of course – you are welcome to join me!
