Settle Your Soul Sunday
by AChuckAllen
Sunday – It is a lot of things to a lot of people. For me, it has always meant that it was God time. It was and is an intentional day that I settle my soul. I know many of you read words like that and imagine that there is some poetic and deeper understanding of that phrase. Nope! I’m a simple guy, that speaks in simple words. On a regular basis, I need to stop my normal pace and normal race to settle my soul.
With the whirlwinds of global terrorism, economic uncertainty, familial fracture and health care crisis, there needs to be somewhere that we can step off of the merry-go-round and settle what matters most. Settle our soul.
That’s one of the many reasons that I think the church should be a place that you are encouraged, challenged and welcomed. Not a place where you are tolerated, belittled and ostracized. I love that about Sugar Hill Church. We are far from a perfect church, primarily because I am really far from serving the church perfectly. Don’t allow the imperfections of everybody else keep you from settling your soul today. Just join in the imperfection as we celebrate and worship the only perfect soul – Jesus the Christ.
Stop to settle your soul. You will be grateful tomorrow that you did that today!
