Welcome to the this week’s 4 for Friday, a collection of recommended READS, LISTENS, LEARNINGS, GADGETS & RESTAURANTS. I’d love to hear your thoughts about these! Shout back with a simple email or reply via the comments following the post.
This week’s 4forFRIDAY is connected to The Climb. Be sure to scroll down and catch up on my BLOG’S from Monday through Thursday this week to catch up.
Here are four suggested resources that will truly help you reach the summit of your climb this year. Don’t miss this Sunday at Sugar Hill Church for Week One – The CLIMB. It’s going to be an amazing day!
1. A Really Good/Short Read: Golden Rules of Goal Setting: Five Rules to Set Yourself Up for Success–Without goals you lack focus and direction. Goal setting not only allows you to take control of your life’s direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding. Think about it: Having a million dollars in the bank is only proof of success if one of your goals is to amass riches. If your goal is to practice acts of charity, then keeping the money for yourself is suddenly contrary to how you would define success.
2. A Timely Video from Craig Grosechel on Your One Word – Craig Grosechel is an interesting guy that I often differ with. He is bright, courageous and gives away millions of dollars worth of ministry and leadership resources. I think this video and series could be a help to you as well. Please let me know what you think.
3. A Very Good Resource that I Have Suggested Before; The 5 Minute Journal Book – This powerful tool is also available in an iPhone app, as well as an Android app. Its worth every penny. This is a beautifully bound book that also makes a great gift.
4. A Really Good Read on Setting and Achieving Goals: Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want by Brian Tracy –Why do some people achieve all their goals while others simply dream of having a better life? Bestselling author Brian Tracy shows that the path from frustration to fulfillment has already been discovered. Hundreds of thousands—even millions—of men and women have started with nothing and achieved great success.
And a quote I am pondering:
“There is a great market for religious experience in our world; there is little enthusiasm for the patient acquisition of virtue, little inclination to sign up for a long apprenticeship in what earlier generations of Christians called holiness.” ―Eugene H. Peterson, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction
Thanks for jumping on board with me! I trust these are helpful for you. I created this weekly list as a result of the many folks that asked what I was reading or what I was listening to, or what resource would I recommend. Enjoy!
Remember, this is a collection of recommended Reads, Listens, Learnings, and Gadgets…with the occasional restaurant review and YouTube suggestion. This is not a class on doctrine or theology…enjoy and share!
Stay the Course, I’ll be Back Monday with The CLIMB – Step Six,
