4forFRIDAY by ACHUCKAllen December 29, 2017
Each Friday I offer up at least 4 recommended reads, listens, learnings, gadgets or reviews. These are not necessarily faith-based or church-related but they each have encouraged or helped me in some way. I trust that they might do the same for you! Please feel free to leave your comments or share this 4forFRIDAY!
Here is This Week’s 4forFRIDAY December 29, 2017
A Great Movie: The Greatest Showman Starring Hugh Jackman
I love shoot-em-up westerns, war classics and good guys shooting bad guys movies. As a result, my expectations were pretty low for this film . Boy was I wrong! This is a great film! It has so many great qualities built around risk, reward, focus and love. It is a story of redemption and forgiveness. You will love this film. I’m not the music Val kind of dude, but again – Great Film! It’ s based on the true story of PT Barnum and how Barnum and Bailey became a form of family entertainment for decades.
Another Great Film: Darkest Hour
This film had me hooked into the story within the first minute and kept me engaged throughout the two-hours sitting on the front row, in a sold out theater. This is the movie that captures the quirky and brave Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill as he stepped onto the stage of history. He was placed in a role that required great leadership and resolve and I exited the theater with a bit more of that resolve having watched it. I think you’ll love this film, as well.
A Great Addition to Your Home: AMAZON ECHO or DOT
We have an Echo upstairs and downstairs. It’s amazing what this thing can do! It’s a breeze to set up. It has become a go to for a flash briefing for me each morning that includes a reminder of my calendared appointments, local news, national news, weather, traffic and Scripture. If you don’t have on of these – grab it with one of those gift cards you received for Christmas.
A Great Read to Help You Launch the New Year: Your Next 30 Days by Dean Fulks
I loved this motivational and practical book. Spiritually, we are the most informed generation in history. Yet, we are also the least committed. What if you could turn the content you have about God into a connection with God? What if the God who created the universe is wanting and waiting to step into your life personally on a daily basis? Dean Fulks has written Your Next Thirty Days just for you. With humorous, engaging stories, his practical teaching style leads you on a thirty-day journey to bring you closer to the One who made you.
A Quote that I am Pondering from Sir Winston Churchill
“There is only one duty, only one safe course, and that is to try to be right and not to fear to do or say what you believe to be right.”
A Reminder of a Great Resource for You and Your Family
