Ahhhh…Sunday Morning

I saw a billboard this week that had a picture of the ideal young family all snuggled up in crisp white linens, perfectly white teeth and hair that was miraculously combed, curled and sprayed. For the record, I’ve never experienced that Sunday morning!

The billboard was part of an ad campaign for a less than memorable product. The gist however, did grab my attention. The digital billboard screamed at me – “Sunday Morning – Just Chill – Don’t go to Church – Just roll over and eat out later!”

My reaction might not be what you expected from a pastor. My thoughts were that we’ve over complicated Worship Gatherings to the degree that we need a break from church! Or maybe we’ve guilted folks into attending church for so many years, that we dread it. It’s also possible that we’ve bored people to tears with bad music, worse preaching and a lackluster commitment to excellence.

This morning, let’s get up, get out and get to church! And if it’s one of the churches described above, fix it! If you can’t, go to another where you can participate in Worship with power, relationships that count and ministry that matters! But don’t just roll over!
