A Great Selection of TED Talks: 10 TED Talks About Mental Health to Help You Get Through Covid-19

This is a powerful series of TED Talks that address the emotional/mental health status and challenges in America today. It’s not fun, light or entertaining, but it is greatly beneficial.

A Book that Every Leader Should Read: Letters From a Self-Made Merchant to his Son By George Horace Lorimer

George Horace Lorimer was an American journalist and author. He is best known as the editor of The Saturday Evening Post. His Letters From A Self-Made Merchant To His Son is a timeless collection of Gilded Age aphorisms from a rich man – a prosperous pork-packer in Chicago to his son, Pierrepont, whom he ‘affectionately’ calls ‘Piggy.’ The writing is subtle and brilliant.

A GREAT Resource for Folks that are Non-Stop: The Rule of Life Workbook

A rule of life is a schedule and set of practices and relational rhythms that help us create space in our busy world for us to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what he did—to live “to the full” (John 10v10) in his kingdom, and in alignment with our deepest passions and priorities.

While the word “rule” may strike you as a strict or binding constraint, the Latin word we translate “rule” was originally the word for a trellis in a vineyard. In the same way a vine needs a trellis to lift it off the ground so it can bear the maximum amount of fruit, and keep free of predators and diseases, we need a rule as a kind of support structure to organize our life around “abiding in the vine,” (John 15v1–8) as Jesus imagined.

It’s been said that we achieve inner peace when our schedule is aligned with our values. A rule of life is simply a tool to that end. Rather than a rigid, legalistic to-do list, it’s a life-giving structure for freedom, growth, and joy.

A GREAT Thinker on Judge Barrett’s Appointment: Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s example of civility: Choosing today to invest in tomorrow by Jim Denison

If you’ve been around the 4forFRIDAY for any length of time, you know that I Sam a fan of Dr. Jim Denison. His thoughts on Judge Amy Comey Barrett is a helpful read in these times of incivility.
