4forFRIDAY with ACHUCKAllen 09.29.17
Each Friday I offer up at least 4 recommended reads, listens, learnings, gadgets or reviews. These are not necessarily faith-based or church-related but they each have encouraged or helped me in some way. I trust that they might do the same for you! Please feel free to leave your comments or share this 4forFRIDAY!
A Fantastic Evening Out: The Atlanta United Soccer Club at Mercedes Benz Stadium
Jenny and I have been to two matches at the new Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Even if you aren’t a soccer fan, this is a really fun event. The passion of this fan base is unbelievable! You can find second-hand tickets for about $30-$35 on Ticketmaster. At that price, we sat in club level seats at midfield. You will be shocked at how much fun it is in that stadium! Let me know when you are going. We’d love to see you there!
A Film that Shook Me to the Core: First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers
This is a movie that will grab your heart and twist it into knots while portraying what must have been a horrific journey of a family that is shattered in the Cambodian struggle with the Khmer Rouge. Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung recounts the horrors she suffered as a child under the rule of the deadly Khmer Rouge.
A Reminder of a Great APP that I Use EVERY DAY! 5 Minute Journal
I’ve been speaking and teaching about the power of gratitude as a part of our daily routine. This simple app reminds me every morning to start my day with three simple steps that engage my soul with an attitude of gratitude. If I could pick one app (other than a Bible app) that I know will assist you in succeeding in any aspect of life, it would be this app. There are plenty of benefits to journaling, whether you take time to write out your full thoughts or just spend a few minutes jotting down the things you’re most grateful for every day or lessons you’ve learned. Five Minute Journal for the iPhone makes this process easy enough to do on the go.
A Really Great Read: The Last Arrow: Save Nothing for the Next Life
My good friend, Bobby McGraw just gifted this book to me yesterday. Erwin McManus is one of the finest people that I’ve had the privilege of meeting. He is the Lead Pastor of Mosaic Church in Downtown Los Angeles, California. I’ve already been captivated by this book, The Last Arrow. If you are giving your life a bit of reflection and assessment or if you simply want to make sure your life counts — READ THIS BOOK!
