Just Another Manic Monday

Every week, millions of folks dread Monday! Been there – Didn’t stay there! Remember The Bangles hit song, “Just Another Manic Monday”? If not, here are a few of the lyrics:

“Six o’clock already, I was just in the middle of a dream, I was kissin’ Valentino. By a crystal blue Italian stream. But I can’t be late, ‘Cause then I guess I just won’t get paid. These are the days when you wish your bed was already made.

It’s just another manic Monday; I wish it was Sunday, ‘Cause that’s my fun day. My I don’t have to run day – It’s just another manic Monday.”

How does Monday stop being another manic, stress-filled day? Here are three simple ways to face Monday with a smile.

  1. Take 20 minutes each Sunday night and confirm your calendar for the week. Set a task list for your week and prioritize those tasks. Treat this list like a parking lot. It’s where you park those dozens of things that rattle around in your brain and keep you from resting well. Why take this time? Time managed includes tasks managed. Schedule your week including personal growth, personal health and goals to be accomplished.
  2. Start your day with meditation! Let it be a ten minute time-frame. Those ten minutes can include reading scripture, understanding scripture, gratitude and prayer. You can be fed this process by The Daily AHA! on the Sugar Hill Church App. If you are like most folks, you are thinking that “I don’t have time!” YES YOU DO! I promise you that this will change your life, not just your Monday!
  3. Start reading! I recently read that nearly 80% of books purchased are actually read. Pick your genre and start reading! If you read 15 minutes each evening, you’ll have read 20 books this year. You’ll develop your vocabulary, sharpen you thinking skills and enjoy the stories of fiction, history, education – whatever. Every study on this topic proves that readers aren’t just leaders, they are learners. AND! They are happier and more peace-filled. READ!

It doesn’t have to be another Manic Monday! Every Monday is like a new year, in a smaller package. Take Monday back and own it like a boss! Make these three, a part of your routine and you’ll be thrilled that Monday rolled around again.

But, here is one last thought!

Find your favorite tunes, roll the windows down and sing like it’s your job! Yes, folks might think you’re weird, so if you just can’t do it in public, do it in the shower! Just determine to seek peace, have some fun and maximize your potential!

Now! Go out today and KILL IT!
