It’s Thursday – Maundy Thursday! Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command,” and refers to Jesus’ commandment to the disciples to “Love one another as I have loved you.” Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, which Followers of Jesus consider the institution of Holy Eucharist, also known as the Lord’s Supper or Communion.
Maundy Thursday is also the day that is memorialized as the day that Jesus washed His Disciples feet. He also commanded that we observe Communion as a time to remember His shed blood and His broken body as He gave them as a ransome to pay for our selfishness and sin. But! Jesus didn’t stop with remember, He also told us to wash other people’s feet. What does that mean, Chuck? It means that you might be willing to serve others in any way that you can, including taking on the role of a servant and washing people’s feet.
I invite you to join me tonight for a GUIDED ONLINE COMMUNION. Simply have any bread or crackers and any type of drink. Join me online at 6:30pm or every top and bottom of each hour until midnight tonight. Wherever you are, just join us HERE or on The Sugar Hill Church App.
Take time, this Maundy Thursday to serve someone and join me in Holy Communion.
Lift up your eyes, see the King has come. Light of the World, reaching out for us. There is no other name. There is no other name. JESUS.
