Here is today’s 4forFRIDAY – Enjoy!
Each Friday I throw at least four suggested reads, listens, learnings, gadgets, movies, or restaurants out for your consideration. Several hundred folks subscribe, and hundreds more read these on Facebook or Twitter feeds. Regardless of how you receive these recommendations, thanks for joining me! These aren’t doctrinal or theological statements, they are simply suggested items that I’ve enjoyed, or found to be helpful. I hope you’ll enjoy them as well.
Just click on the title. They are all linked up and ready for you!
What’s it like to grow up within a group of people who exult in demonizing … everyone else? Megan Phelps-Roper shares details of life inside America’s most controversial church and describes how conversations on Twitter were key to her decision to leave it. A Really Good & Short Read: Never Live Like You’re Behind by Stephen Guise
Is there an area in which you feel like you’re “behind” where you should be?Do you feel behind in friends, money, respect, free time, happiness, productivity, fitness, health, organization, relationships, or success in general? If an area comes to mind, think about it as you read through this post.
A Tasty, Funky Kind of Seafood Restaurant: Six Feet Under Near Inman Park
This little seafood joint is really good! I loved the appetizers, especially the Chimichurri Shrimp and the stuffed sweet peppers wrapped in bacon (they call the sweet rat toes). The Shrimp and grits were awesome and the catfish tasted so fresh, you’d swear you were at a Florida coastline fish camp. But leave room for the jalapeno hush puppies – AAAHHHHHHHHH!
A Really Good Album that I am Listening to Right Now: The Soundtrack from the Movie, The Shack
In spite of my many peers that are a bit freaked out by the movie The Shack, I loved it! Sitting in the theater, I wondered if there was a soundtrack as the music seemed to be perfectly scored for my favorite scenes in the film. I really think you’ll like this album, even if you didn’t like or watch the film. My two favorite songs on the album are: “Rivers of Jordan” and “Stars.”
Bonus: A Quote that I’m Pondering On, from General Colin Powell
“Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls,
your ego goes with it.”
