In 1978, The Who released a classic rock and roll song in titled, “Who Are You?” The lyrics were really complicated and apparently captivating. It went like this:
Who are you? Who, who, who, who?
Who are you? Who, who, who, who?
Who are you? Who, who, who, who?
Who are you? Who, who, who, who?
Somehow, I can’t get that song out of my head. And one day last week I was reading and it hit me. Many of us, beginning with me, have seasons when we simply forget who we are. Life has a way of sucking the life out of us. It can leave us bruised and wounded, but we are far more than what the world tells us we are.
So as a reminder, here are a few things that Scripture reminds us that we are:
- You are Chosen 1 Timothy 1:4
- You are Protected Psalm 17:8
- You are Complete 2 Peter 1:3
- You are Victorious Romans 8:37
- You are Forgiven Romans 8:1
- You are Loved Jeremiah 31:3
If this Monday finds you in a season of insecurity or lack of clarity, click on these reminders. You have been created in the Image of the Divine. You have been sought after and loved. Your creator gave His best to reclaim you, brush you off and make you new. And, as I often finish our teaching time at Sugar Hill Church—
May you know that He will go before you and make a way, because He can and He will.
May you know that He will go within you and give you peace, fulfillment and joy, because He is always good and you are always loved.
And may you know that He will come behind you and carry you through your season of fear, insecurity, tragedy and sorrow, wipe away your tears, kiss you on the forehead and wrap His arms around as you hear Him say, “My Child…I Love You.”
Go in peace today. He is all you need and He is always yours.
