4forFRIDAY with ACHUCKAllen 11.10.17

Each Friday I offer up at least 4 recommended reads, listens, learnings, gadgets or reviews. These are not necessarily faith-based or church-related but they each have encouraged or helped me in some way. I trust that they might do the same for you! Please feel free to leave your comments or share this 4forFRIDAY!

Here is Today’s 4forFRIDAY:

A Realy, Really Good Historic Novel: Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan
I was captivated by this historical novel. I literally read cover to cover from Atlanta to Amsterdam. Soon to be a major motion picture from Pascal Pictures, starring Tom Holland. Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, the #1 Amazon Charts bestseller Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours.

A Reminder of The Best Mexican Food Around at El Taco Jalesco
This is a twice a week lunch stop for me these days. My latest delicious update is the pulled beef burrito. O My Stars! It’s like the tender pot roast your granny made, with the spices and flour tortilla. Don’t let the Exxon Station scare you away. I love this hole in the wall and wanted you to be reminded, especially after I tried something new!

Another Really Solid Historical Account: Blind Mans Bluff
This was a fascinating read for me. The complexity of this Over the course of five years, investigative reporters Sherry Sontag and Chris Drew interviewed hundreds of men who had never spoken about their underwater lives—not even to their wives and children. They uncovered a wealth of classified information: the tapping of undersea Soviet telephone cables, the stealing of Soviet weapons, the tragic collisions of enemy submarines. They tell of medals awarded in secret and deaths disguised with disinformation. Blind Man’s Bluff is a critical work of history that reads with all the excitement of a Tom Clancy novel and all the tragedy of Das Boot.

A Great Pair of Chukka Boots: Tommy Hilfiger Men’s Chukka Boots
I love these classic chukkas. I just got another pair after two years with my first pair of everyday wear. If you wear jeans or khakis, you’ll dig these boots.

BONUS REVIEW: A Low Budget, but Awesome Airline: WOW Airlines
I flew on WOW from Baltimore to Iceland and then from Iceland to Amsterdam. It was clean, quick, well staffed and cheap! WOW, air is a happy low-fare, and long-haul airline based in Iceland. The airline was founded in November 2011 and serves 38 destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia. WOW, is committed to providing the cheapest flights to and from Iceland and across the Atlantic while providing a memorable service all the way.

A Quote that I  am Pondering from an Anonymous Source
“Life’s problems wouldn’t be called “hurdles” if there wasn’t a way to get over them.”
