Four for Friday [10.28.16]

Welcome to the current Four for Friday, a collection of recommended READS, LISTENS, LEARNINGS & GADGETS. I’d love to hear your thoughts about these!

A Short and Great Read:
Nine Attributes of a Real Man

“If you are a man looking for true masculinity, consider whether these nine commitments would make a significant impact on your masculinity.” The world offers us one flawed depiction of manhood after another, glorifying the womanizing activities of James Bond, the stoic toughness and emotional distance of Jason Bourne, and the obsession for greed, power and control of Gordon Gekko. Guys, this is a must read. Ladies, this is for you. It will help you understand your guy, or help you find your guy!

A Great Listen:
This is So Funny, True and Accurate – John Crist on EVERY FOOTBALL COACH, EVER

I love this guy! He’s the funniest guy in America to me. Think about every football coach that has been interviewed leaving the field tav halftime. Christ has got it down. You gotta watch this video!

A Helpful and Health Conscience APP:
WaterMinder

After drinking a gallon of water a day (pretty consistently), I am convinced that it is better for living a healthy lifestyle than anything else I can do, other than eat better. This simple app will allow you to keep track of your water consumption, remind you when to drink and assist you in the motivation to get and stay hydrated,

An Entertaining, Thought Provoking Video:
A TED Talk from Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses — and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk. Liz isn’t for everybody. She’s an odd and eccentric author/speaker. But I learn something from her every time I listen to her. Remember, if you are not capable of learning from folks that are not necessarily “in your existing tribe” DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS! But I love her and would love to hear what you think!

Bonus Round: A Quote that I’m Attempting to Grasp Hold of…

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”

Thanks for jumping on board with me! I trust these are helpful for you. I created this weekly list as a result of the many folks that asked what I was reading or what I was listening to, or what resource would I recommend. Enjoy!

Remember, this is a collection of recommended Reads, Listens, Learnings, and Gadgets…with the occasional restaurant review and YouTube suggestion. This is not a class on doctrine or theology…enjoy and share!

See you soon!
